Often the first symptom is a heart attack
When you think of cardiovascular disease you probably think of your heart, but it affects your brain and many other systems too, raising the risk of heart attack, sudden death and stroke.
Yet the only “preventative” test usually offered is cholesterol, which on its own is a poor predictor of risk. A true picture needs more sophisticated testing.
Imagine a wilting plant. We could paint the leaves green and say it looks better, or we could find out why it’s wilting: water, nutrients, light, infection. Functional medicine does the second. Conventional medicine is best in an emergency; for prevention, we need to find the root causes.
Two ways to check your heart

Cardioscopy
The most comprehensive panels available to assess your risk, or understand what is driving existing heart disease, read alongside a thorough health history.

Carotid artery scan
A painless, 30-minute ultrasound of the carotid arteries that shows early changes years before blood pressure or cholesterol would.

Based on a very thorough health history and extensive testing, we work out the best strategy to optimise every value, from inflammation and blood sugar to homocysteine and hormones.
Cardioscopy starts with an initial consultation, where we agree which tests are right for you.
